AFSA Chapter 872 - P.O. Box 25017 Scott AFB, Illinios 62225

VVR2014_-_FirstLap.jpgThe Air Force Sergeant's Association Chapter 872 celebrates an Annual Veteran's Vigil Run every November to "Honor all Veterans, Past and Present".

Next November (2016) will be the seventh event hosted by Scott Air Force Base.  For 24-hrs, participants run or walk in 30 minute periods while carrying both the United States and Prisoner of War/Missing In Action flags.

A special tribute was made to selected veterans from the local community who have made significant sacrifices and to honor their dedicated service to our nation.

Our junior enlisted further enhance the event by reading thousands of names from fallen heroes that have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

November 6, 2016 we paid our respects to Lt Roslyn "Roz" Schulte from nearby Ladue, MO.  Lt Schulte was killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb on May 20, 2009.  She was the first female Air Force Academy graduate to be killed by enemy action.  She was posthumously awarded the National Intelligence Medal for Valor and the Hawaii medal of Honor.  She also has three buildings named in her honor.
